The preview Windows Azure management portal is updated since yesterday. A number of wishes of users is wrapped in this update.
Since last week Thursday (June 7 2012) is the new HTML portal of Windows Azure live and available for everyone. This new portal is a relief compared to the Silverlight one. And that was really better then this predecessor.
Windows Azure is on my radar since its first public CTP at PDC’2008. Nowadays a lot of my working hours and beyond are filled with Windows Azure! And I love it.
I showed you a while ago the improved SQL Azure management portal. After having nothing in 2008, Project Houston was a great step towards a Cloud only management portal. But December 2011 they renewed the complete SQL Azure management portal. Besides a more Metro look-and-feel they added also some extreme helpful tools and utilities.
There are a few enhancements made to the Windows Azure Management portal as I told you in my previous blogpost Billing is one of them. But there are also enhancements made to SQL Azure. Now you can choose for 100 Gb or 150 Gb as max sizes.
In my previous post I told about Project Houston and how the current version is much cleaner. Well look at the picture and decide by yourself.
If you keep an eye on the Windows Azure blog then you saw the announcement of service release of SQL Azure. With this update there are also changes made to the SQL Azure part on the Windows Azure portal. Before we had Houston (on my Dutch blog I had months ago an item on that one). Houston was the web tooling to manage the database objects on a SQL Azure instance. And it was pretty neat! Other competitors also came with Web sites from which you can manage a SQL Azure instance.
