Adding new columns to existing views
Feb 27th
In OBI 11.1.1.6, columns that are added afterwards to an analysis with existing (table-)views are automatically added to these views. This is the default behavior, where in 11.1.1.5, existing views needed to be edited to include the new columns. This can be changed under the Analysis Properties button: More >

First attempt installing OBIEE 11.1.1.6
Feb 24th
Oracle released the 11.1.1.6 version of Oracle Business Intelligence Suite just this week. Although on a skiing holiday, I could not resist the urge to download it and install it. The Repository Creation Untility is still there. Please be sure to use the 11.1.1.6 version of the RCU as well ! After kicking off the installer and choosing the Simple Install option, everything is done for you. It’s smooth as silk. Unfortunately, the Internal Server Error page is still shown right after the initial startup. But F5-ing after a while shows the well-known login screen. Curious as I am, I wanted to check out the Sample Application. But unfortunately, I ended up with this error message: More >

Microsoft is about to release the new and improved private cloud solution. A private cloud solution is nothing new for the most of us because that’s what we always have done in the past. Weird
It’s often said that InternetExplorer sucks, Firefox should be used instead….
For those that agree, please explain why IE9 displays the vmswiki pages correctly, where Firefox 10.0.2 ignores any CSS…..Nor does Chrome.
This is the IE display:

The Firefox display:

and the Google Chrome one:

For this Blog, Firefox is fine….At least: most of the time…
Previous problems
Over a week ago, I entered a post concerning problems I had after updating Python: the VMS-wiki failed to start up. But in the process entering the post, I hit ‘Save’ to secure the contents. It turned out the link with the server was lost and all that I entered was gone into the void of the BitBin….
Now to recall all I entered – I’ll have to track back my post to the WASD mailing list…..
